Shannon, I'm going to want to hear all about how alcohol makes you a bad person. :)

Well, it's another rainy day here in Erie, PA. Not much going on with life except the little booger I'm carrying won't stop kicking my stomach. Everyone always talks about how wonderful and joyful it is when you first begin to feel your baby move and kick....but they all fail to tell you that it can actually REALLY hurt! I could not go to sleep last night because baby kept moving around. It feels really strange - - almost like something is lightly scratching your insides. Delightful!

Three more weeks and we are going to find out whether it is a BOY or a GIRL! I finally convinced Paul...and in the most silliest of ways. I kept changing the sex of the baby on a weekly basis. On Week 13 it was a boy, then Week 14 it was a girl, followed by Week 15 when it magically became a boy again, and....well you get the general idea. Either way, it really disturbed him to find out that our baby can potentially hear what we say. He does not want our child to be confused about their gender later in life...considering they will be hearing themselves being called either a male or a female before birth. So, he agreed to find out at our next ultrasound! Then we can finally just call the baby by name for the rest of the pregnancy.

For those of you I have not yet told, if it is a girl we will name her Emma Rose. We don't have a solid front runner for boy names, but right now we're liking Matthew Patrick. Any suggestions on boy names? Paul is kind of picky about it. He's already turned down: Aiden, Caleb, Jack Thomas, and Paul (I suggested we name him after my favorite Beatle...not his father). However, he seems strangely drawn to the name "Fred." Not Frederick. Just Fred.

Fred Nistler.

Sounds like a boy who loves to milk cows and hoe fields.

I told him: "over my dead body."

My bump is beginning to grow. I'm officially showing and it is entirely annoying at work because old ladies will say "stand up! let me look at you!" I feel like a freak on display. And I absolutely do NOT allow touching of my abdominal area. What is it about being pregnant that makes people believe that your body is suddenly transformed into a scratch and sniff? Without the sniff. Anyway, I'll try posting some pictures soon of my baby bump for you to see.

And I wouldn't mind if you girls touched my tummy later on....just not old ladies that I barely know.

I miss you! I'm sorry that I don't have more to talk about other than the pregnancy...but it's pretty much all that's going down in Erie. That, and my husband was the MVP of his softball playoff game last night. I was so proud of him. :)

I love you all!

  1. Oh Monica, you are hilarious! I love you lots!

I expect pictures of the baby bump soon, and of course immediate knowledge when you find out whether baby is a he or a she.

And I look forward to touching and rubbing that baby bump of yours the next time I see you! :)

    Mucho amor!

  2. Monica! I love your candid sense of humor. I appreciate your honest assessment of pregnancy. I am looking forward to your post on child labor.

Expect me to touch your buddha belly and make corny comments like, "don't chya know, he/she is such a little soccer player, mom" (in a Wisconsinite accent) when the baby kicks. J/K.

I am also a freak and looked all the fun baby items at Crate and Barrel online for you. SO cute. I am pretty sure my uterus was glowing out of baby envy...now if I can only find a man that doesn't want to name our baby Fred. Haha.

love you (and your bebe) lots.

  3. yes, yes Monica, thank you for this candid look into the world of being preggers. I do appreciate it. I am especially looking forward to someday having someone "lightly scratch" on my insides (that is a ridiculous description).

Also good choice on nixing Fred as a name. I do however look forward to pictures of this baby bump of yours and to touching your baby belly.

Anyway, expect all sorts of cutsie crafty whatnots from this auntie. You know me. You may eventually even get your quilts, but this baby will definitely have something (probably crocheted) from me around the time of his/her birth :)

    lots of love and hugs
