Who says that?
Anyway, quick update on the life of Lishka. My classes have started and are going pretty well. I like them for the most part, a couple of them are kinda boring, but that's how it goes. I've got homework now again, and it's weird. I don't like that part, haha.
Sean and I have had a few adventures lately. We went to one of the lakes and rented a double kayak for an hour or so and kayaked the chain of lakes here in Minneapolis. That was fun, being out on the water and seeing the lakes from a new perspective. I saw lots of house along the lakes that will one day be mine, haha. There are a lot of rich people that live on the lakes. Anyway, President Obama came into town a little over a week ago to kick off his health care reform rallies. Apparently the Mayo Clinic is a good model for high-quality, low-cost care. Sean and I got up and joined the lines at the Target Center (about a 15 minute walk from my apartment), and ended up getting really good seats after waiting for an hour and a half to get through the security. Talk about a mob of people and a fair amount of chaos. That was really cool though; now I can say that I've seen a president in person and not just on TV or in pictures! We also went to a party for the physics grad students, which surprisingly was not all that awkward. Only slightly. I went to a happy hour this past week with some of my new classmates, the first year MCH majors cohort, so we're starting to get to know one another. Also slightly awkward. Why does everything in life seem to be somewhat awkward?
I'm still on the hunt for a job. I never heard anything from that first interview. I had an interview this past Friday for a student worker position at the Minnesota Department of Health on "Team Flu". It's a group of MPH students working with some epidemiologists to track the seasonal and H1N1 flu outbreaks, as well as the effectiveness of the vaccines. It sounds super cool, pays well, and it's REAL public health experience. So my fingers are really crossed on that one. Prayers are appreciated. I really am needing a job as I'm looking at my bills for the next couple months.
Congrats on the house, Lyssa! It looks wonderful!
And Monica, I request a monthly photo update on the size of your belly. It makes me happy to hear that he is training for his future soccer endevours. :)
I miss you girls lots!! Much love!
I will keep you in my prayers for the job hunt. Sounds like you have a good lead into it!
