A Move Update

It was so great to get to talk to some of you girls who were at Alicia's shower on Saturday. I hope your shower was awesome, Licia!!


So here is the update. We are stuck. On Route 66. In Arizona.

We were driving along after lunch on Saturday and stopped at this little roadside tourist trap to stretch our legs (and also because supposedly there was an ostrich you could feed there, which turned out to be not true). As we went to get back on the highway our car refused to go above 40 miles an hour and the RPM's kept revving. Long story short, we ended up going to the Petrified Forest where no one could help us, driving the car 26 miles back to this tiny town (Holbrook) and holing up in a motel for the weekend because everything is closed on Sunday here. We're going to have it looked at in the morning but who knows how soon they'll be able to fix it. We're thinking about trading in the trailer for a uhaul truck and towing the car back to Evansville and having it fixed there.

Anyway, it's pretty much a mess. I've had to write to my new boss and tell her that there is no way I can be there to start on Wednesday. And having the car fixed, or even renting another truck is going to make it so that we won't be able to get an apartment in Evansville for at least a month, maybe more. Generally this whole trip has been a bit of a nightmare but I'm hoping that once we can get back on the road we'll be able to make the most of the rest of the trip and maybe we'll be able to look back on this and laugh (in like a year or two).
