In general, we tend to ignore mortality. It's hard to feel that vulnerable.
My mom had a heart attack this past weekend. She had surgery and the doctors were able to open her artery by angioplasty. Her long term prognosis is great but recovery will be a long process. I hope she leaves the hospital by the end of the week.
I'm still marinating this experience. I've never felt both so adult and so helpless in my life. It was utterly foreign to encourage, comfort, and take care of my mother. Full of gratitude for the time God has given me to enjoy her friendship and unconditional love. "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad."
