Summer fabulosity!

My first year of teaching is officially over! Wow, the past few months seem like a blur. I already miss many of my kids and their crazy personalities. Not crazy in the Travis Fanger sense...but I have had the pleasure of teaching very creative and intelligent students. I heard a lot of good feedback from parents the last few weeks of school. (Many of these were from kids that are extremely quiet, and I had thought that they wanted nothing to do with me.) Many parents have also told me that their kids are speaking Spanish at home to thier parents' delight or dismay. Of course I also got a few e-mails from parents saying that they are not sure why their kids are failing my class. (I don't know...maybe because they haven't turned in homework in the last month...sigh) Through all the frustration, it is a great feeling to know that I am helping so many wonderful young adults on their way to becoming bilingual. Also wonderful is the feeling that it is finally summer.

I am so happy to be in the same city as Cliff this summer. He is working at the #1 rated internship company in Indianapolis. He seems to like it so far, and no doubt the people there love him. He can talk to anyone and instanty have a connection with them. He definitely is not the typical engineer. Several PT clinics and other companies have made me offers to do translations for the summer. I am looking to speaking with native speakers and learning some new technical vocab. I am planning on going back to Ft Wayne sometime soon. I will let you know so that we can get together. I miss you all so much!

Love,
Andrea

  2. I think of Travis Fanger when I see sombreros or hear Canada's National Anthem.
