Hi girls,
Wow, lots of posts with big news recently! I still have to convice myself every now and then that as adults, there is change sometimes. I am still getting used to the fact of all of us being spread out and remembering the times of living 5-20 minutes away from one another and seeing each other on a daily basis. I am definitely fine at times with how everything is right now and then the times where I feel down and need friendships by me, that is when I miss you all and desperately wish that we lived closer. I think this also connects with the fact that we don't know that many people in Huntington and therefore don't get together with others as much.
Courtney, it sounds like you and Kyle have thought through your plans very wisely and definitely sound very serious about it. If its an opportunity that you feel will benefit you two and a once in a lifetime opportunity, then I think you should go for it. We will miss you, but I am glad of our website and facebook and texting. I'm glad that you shared your thoughts with us :)
Linds, New York for summer sounds very exciting and a great opportunity for you!
Well, my summer plans are basically nothing right now and I am uncertain if this status will change. I will not be returning to my summer job anymore and I have no idea what is out there for part time jobs. I really did have an ideal summer job with the park. I know that this is different from what I said in my last post. One of the days I was sick at home, my boss called me and basically said that the needs of the park is going in a different direction compared to my needs. I guess I could see this. Last summer I probably didn't perform all that well, which was to be expected. I did have thoughts of only wanting to come back because of the good pay. This may also be because I am the person that has been there the most in the last 5 years and maybe they couldn't pay me the amount I would be getting paid. I had also thought about starting my master's. I am going to put that on hold as I have no idea what next school year is going to bring me as far as a job and with the uncertainity of knowing when I'll get a job, I decided to wait. The only plans for the summer is taking a vacation with Jordan. We are trying to decide where to go. So far we have thought of Mackinac Island, Gaitlinburg, TN and Myrtle Beach. Anyone have any ideas?
Lish, those quotes you shared really are lovely and I can see how they have touched you. I may be interested in reading it, so thank you for sharing :) I can also see myself catching up on reading, decorating the inside of the house, doing some gardening (poss. planting tomato plants), taking care of my flowers, Andrea's wedding! and working on other small projects.
I pray for you all each day and hope your days are going well!
Much love to you all :)
Lyss,
ReplyDeleteI am having a sudden rush of indignation for you. Don't let anyone (esp. park employers) let you feel like you aren't an amazing employee. I would hire you at X3 the going rate. I would like to call that lady up and give her a piece of my mind. Umph.
I am so inspired by your passion for teaching. I have every confidence a great teaching position will come your way.
In other news, as a former Michigander I vote for Mackinaw---the UP should be the 8th wonder of the world. It's beauty is incredible. Great for hiking, boating, sun bathing, shopping, fudge eating....overall a lot of fun for a reasonable price.
I miss you a lot. I hope to see you this summer.
Love,
Linds
Hey Lyssa,
ReplyDeleteGetting a teaching job right now is not easy, but I have faith in you. You will be a wonderful teacher! I know what you mean about having everyone spread out. Life has thrown me some curve balls the past year. I have missed you all, but it is really exciting to hear of all the new directions our lives are going.
Vacation wise, Mackinak island is fun for a few days. I had fun as a kid there. Niagra Falls would be awesome to see too.
Give me a call if you want to talk.
Love you,
Andrea
