Spring and Earth Day

Hello my beautiful sisters,

Spring makes me happy. Like really happy. Maybe I have a little seasonal affective disorder, I don't know, but on a day as beautiful as today with the sun shining bright and temps in the 60s, how can one not be happy? So I decided to share my joy with you!

Happy Earth Day as well! I got a free mocha this morning from a local cafe, Common Roots Cafe, for bringing a reusable mug. Now that is a good way to celebrate Earth Day!

I also interviewed for a very part-time job this morning in the office of my apartment building. The lady was really nice, which made my day as well. We'll see if I get it. Cross your fingers.

I'm reading a book for one of my classes that I feel has a lot of wisdom, so I'm going to share with you some quotes from it that have really spoken to me:

"The condition of our spirit also affects our social relationships, whether other people are drawn to us in love and friendship or repelled by us...the way we care for our spirit, and the life decisions that we make either consciously or unconsciously, are what determine whether we have a healthy or unhealthy relationship with self, family, community, and all living things."

"As the 'science' of medicine has gone forward in this century, the care of the human has become very compartmentalized. The body goes to the doctor, the mind to the psychiatrist, and the soul and spirit to the church or synagogue. It is my belief that we cannot divide ourselves into pieces that way. If we want true and lasting wellness, we cannot leave the soul outside of the hospital and the doctor's office. I carry my soul and my spirituality with me everywhere I go, because I know that I am more than a body."

"Achieving harmony is a big factor in having a spirit that is strong and whole. The first ingredient for finding harmony is learning to love oneself - all of oneself. When we learn to love and accept even the shadow parts of ourselves, the parts we judge and criticize, we can then learn to love all living things."

Peace, love and harmony to you today and always.

Love,
Lishka

P.S. If interested, the book is called Woman Who Glows in the Dark by Elena Avila.

  1. Remember when your AOL screen name was Harmony535? Hehe.

Anyways, I love the sentiment Lish. SO true. I am constantly working on "learning to love and accept even the shadow parts" my myself.

p.s. I think your spirit attracts some pretty amazing people. :)

  2. Oh agreed agreed. Thank you for the harmonious vibes, Licia. It has been a wonderfully beautiful Earth Day which included planting a shoe. I now have a lovely little girl's mary jane shoe with a pansy growing in it on my windowsill.
