Wedding Dress Shopping is the Bane of my Existence

Hello lovlies,

I have been attempting to shop for an affordable wedding dress that can be procured well before April 6.

And well, things are looking iffy.

Here are the contenders I found today.  Let me know your thoughts.

First --

Note that this dress is a size too small and that I am awkwardly talking to the saleslady as she takes my picture.  My mother "does not like the droopy neckline" (or something like that).

Second--
This dress is from a consignment shop and my mother actually likes it.  It might be my favorite but it is kind of heavy (lace, ya know?).

Third --

This dress is "tea length" which on me means about my ankles.  I think it's cute and fun, but my mother says it is "goofy."  I guess I must think I'm goofy then because I think this is the most me.

Fourth --
I really super like this dress but I can't have it.  David's Bridal says it will take 15 weeks for it to get here which would be the week before my wedding week.  Also it's too expensive.

What are your thoughts?  Anything I should have been looking at that you think would suit me better than what I've been trying on?  Any tips on what to talk about with the salesladies who attach themselves to your hip while you're trying to look at dresses?

much love,

Court

  1. Hi lovely,

Um... I kind of agree with your mother. The shape of the 2nd one and the lace compliment your figure well. You look very elegant!

The 3rd one, well, I hate to say it, but to me it looks a bit frumpy. Don't hate me for saying that.

The first one is cute too. I can imagine that it would look sassy with a birdcage veil. :)

Love you! You will get through this. And tell the salesladies to shove off - they just want their commission. If you're around in the days after Christmas I'll go shopping with you, although I'm sure you probably want to have picked something by then.

  2. I like the 2nd and 4th one a lot. Too bad that 4th one is both unavailable and too expensive (but the style looks nice on you!). The 2nd one is really elegant and I know the lace may feel heavy, but your wedding is in early April, so it shouldn't be hot at all weather-wise. Don't engage the saleswomen at all. They'll tell you anything looks good just to get a sale. However, DO use them to take back products for you so you don't have to carry heavy dresses around the store. I know it's frustrating, but you'll find something! :)

  3. Hello beautiful bride! The second one fits your shape so nicely. It is very classic. Knowing your style, I can see you in a tea length or cap sleeves like number 3 or 4. However, I don't think the third one is tailored quite right.

It is good to get ideas from friends and family (not the sales people), but it is ultimately your decision and wedding. Have fun, and let me know if you need a shopping buddy.
