Less Than 2 Months!

My wedding is less than 2 months away!

I am so excited to see all of you, but I'm also kind of freaking out.

I am terrible at planning and planning from a distance is tricky.

We have pretty much everything as far as big vendors under control.  So there will be a location, chairs, food, and music.

My biggest problem thus far is, of course, the dress.

Ugh.  I ordered a dress online which I was sure was going to be beautiful.  It took 6 weeks to get here so during that time I didn't look for dresses anywhere else.  Then it came.  I was so excited!

I got the dress out and I put it on.  And OH MY GOSH!  ARE MY HIPS REALLY THAT BIG?!?!

It looked awful.  I cried.  Then I went to my future mother-in-law's and she looked at it and determined that it is not me, but the dress itself.  The stitching on the seams from the waist down are not straight.  They won't even lay flat.  So the ruching that goes across the midsection of the dress won't lay flat and thus makes the person wearing the dress look like they have wings sprouting from their hips.  At least I can return it. (YAY REFUND!)

So now, I'm scrambling to find a dress I like that isn't just a run-of-the-mill, just-like-every-other wedding dress.  I've found a couple here that are ok and my mom's rehearsal dress from her wedding is cute so maybe I'll wear that.  Send good dress karma my way because I desperately need it.

Other than that I am currently procrastinating from addressing wedding invitations.  I think I only have 30 more to go and most of those are ones where I need to confirm people's given names.  Do you know that when Kyle asked his stepmother if her son-in-law's name was James (because we always just call him Jim) that she said it was fine to just address the envelope to Jim?  Seriously, that wasn't the question.  I had to look it up on the internet; good thing he works for the school district.

Expect an invite this week or next.  I may be going crazy and have probably forgotten millions of details. But I still can't wait to see you.

love,

Court

P.S. These are our wedding bands.

  1. Oh dear, don't sweat the smallest stuff unless it's fun. Addressing invites = not fun. There is a reason mine were printed address labels. ;) Etiquette has its place, but sometimes it's too ridiculous to worry about. Go with the names you know unless you think that particular person will be offended, and send them off. The envelope will just get tossed anyway. :) (Although if you did hand address them, I promise I will admire it before tossing it!)

Good luck with the dress! That's supposed to be one of the fun parts - I'm sorry it has turned so stressful. I wish I lived closer so I could go shopping with you!!! :(

    P.S. Pretty pretty bands!

  2. Ugh...addressing the wedding invites by hand is the best way to get some major cramps in your arm. I totally remember doing that and my entire arm from the elbow through my pinkie finger was numb. I'm all for Alicia's method of just printing labels. So much easier. But yes, I shall admire your handwriting when we receive the invitation. Heck, I'll even stick the envelope in a scrapbook just to commemorate your effort! :)
Good luck with the dress. You'll look beautiful even if you choose to walk down the aisle in a paper bag (although I don't suggest that!).
Keep baby thoughts floating my way. My body is actually already getting ready for labor...so I am still keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to make it to Bloomington!
