The Baby Bump Update

Hello to all my dearest friends,

Well, the baby bump continues to grow. Sometimes it is actually depressing because I would have just gotten used to the size my abdomen was at one week only to find that it has grown a bit more. My continually stretching belly button helps me keep track of how much I grow week to week. I was able to hide the pregnancy up to about Week 17 or so, but now most people either think I'm dipping into the cookie jar a few too many times or that I'm expecting.
Here is a picture of me at 19.5 Weeks...the baby bump is pretty much the same size now. Baby is kicking like crazy. It is no longer painful, which is wonderful, because I can thoroughly enjoy it now. Paul finally got to feel the baby kick for the first time last week and ever since then he has been able to feel a few good kicks before we go to bed ever night. It seriously makes his day!

See how happy and proud my handsome husband is to be a father?
As a side note to this picture, every time I try to get my nerd to take a picture, this is the face I get. So he's just going to have to deal with the fact that I've published it on this post....ha!
Other than that, Paul and I celebrated our 1st year anniversary up at Niagara Falls. We stayed the night in a Bed and Breakfast and EVERYTHING about the place was so elegant. It was decorated in the Victorian style and the innkeeper left us cookies, scone, and biscotti on our terrace with tea in a silver English tea set in the afternoon. Breakfast was served in a formal setting in the dining room on full-service china. The lady must have been a gourmet chef before deciding to run a B&B because the meal was absolutely fantastic. The presentation was really adorable too...she had everything cut and stacked just beautifully, complete with a sprig of thyme or rosemary for garnish. I almost felt guilty about destroying it...but not too guilty because it was incredibly delicious!
The falls themselves were gorgeous, but we really just enjoyed spending time with each other. It's rare that we get to spend the entire weekend together just relaxing...and it reminded us very much of our honeymoon. It was also very refreshing to talk and reflect back upon how much our love for one another has grown since the first time we awkwardly whispered "I love you" during our freshman year of college. It made me realize that despite the ups and downs that is life...I am truly happy and exactly where I am meant to be.
I love you all! You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers...will you all be home for Thanksgiving? I look forward to hopefully getting the whole group together then!
Love always,

Monica

  1. Besides the bump you don't look like you've gained weight anywhere else so congrats on being one of those women!
I most likely will not be home for Thanksgiving...either Indy or if my sisters and I can get our way Wisconsin...though if tensions between my sisters and I/father and Marci continue to sour we may be spending it with my mother after all.

  2. Awww Monica, you look absolutely stunning! :)

Paul is equally as gorgeous. I can see why you married him. (haha)

I should be home for Thanksgiving weekend. My mother has allowed me to bring the 3rd car to MN for the year since Melinda is not yet old enough to drive, so I think she'd kill me if I didn't drive it home to see her for Thanksgiving. I look forward to rubbing your even bigger belly that weekend! :)

  3. Shannon, I beg to differ. My boobs weigh about twice as much as they did before baby showed up in my uterus.
