Things are looking up
Yes I made that. At work. Don't worry, I'm a good steward of taxpayer dollars - it was a lunch break, post-Easter-peeps-are-on-sale unit art project. :)
I always get extra cheerful this time of year. It could be the fact that the weather outside is usually perfect, and I start to reengage in walks, bike rides, grilling, and sunny, perfect evenings. Plus it's my birthday, family birthdays, graduations, and the like.
So, things are looking up. I am going to FINALLY defend my Master's Project this coming Friday. I'm very confident that I'll pass. I can't wait. This has been weighing on my mind for the past year and a half. Like I couldn't fully enjoy all of the procrastinating and fun activities that I was doing because I always had the thought in my head of "you should be working on your project instead." As of Friday that will not be there anymore, and it will feel SO GOOD. I can almost taste the freedom.
My job is going well. I like it well enough. And what's even better - things are looking good that I'll be able to continue in the position come January (it is currently a one year temporary position - Jan to Jan). Funding outlook is looking well, I had a convo with the woman whose position I took and she is liking her new job and will probably stay in it if the funding does work out. So...awesome! I should get benefits and not have to worry about job hunting again while Sean finishes up grad school. Fingers crossed!
Sean and I made a quick trip home over Memorial Day weekend. Total time spent in the car - 28 hours. That wasn't fun, but seeing Melinda graduate from BD (no more Earnests at Dwenger - tis the end of an era), going to a good friend's wedding in Cincinnati, celebrating Matt's birthday, and helping my mom throw Melinda's graduation party. All in four days. It was so much fun, and I was glad to be able to spend time with my family since I hadn't been home since Christmas. If only I could have stayed longer.
Miss you all terribly. I wish we could see each other more. You're always welcome in Minneapolis!
Love,
Lishka
